The twelve-week program · Chapter 17

Weeks 7 and 8: extending the top

How to work above your transition for two weeks: height without weight, head voice before belt, and hard limits on volume and repetition.

Move on when: Each note from the upper edge of the transition you found in chapter 10 up to three semitones above it, set one at a time as the target in the pitch studio and landed inside tolerance at conversational volume, in order, on three separate days.

The evidence comes from the pitch studio, which is where this app measures it.

When it does not pass, the blocker is usually this one. Weight, not height. A note above the transition that lands only when you get louder is the heavier setup being carried up; halve the volume, slide down into it from a note above, and count three days again.

What passing does not prove: That the notes are in head voice or mix, or that they would hold at full volume. Only pitch against the target is scored; nothing here classifies register or detects strain.

The app runs this fortnight day by day in The Measured Voice: 12 weeks, a Suede Pro program. Its first week is free, and each day of that week fits inside the free plan's 5 guided minutes.
